Mine still only have flowers on them, I know they look pretty but I'd sooner have aubergines.

Bloke at the lottie asked if I had any aubergine plants and if not did I want a couple of seedlings. Off I toddles along to his plot expecting a small seedling.
Came back with two plants about 18 inches high and full of flower. Smashing plants but only in 5 inch pots. Managed to find a space in my already bulging greenhouse & will pot them on when I get a bit of time.My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

I have 5 aubergines in my tunnel, all have a fair number of flowers on them - will try the misting tip if there are no baby fruits visible by the weekend. The plants are big and healthy this year - last time I grew them they got eaten by earwigs and were very slow to get going again but I did get some decent fruits from them, so really hopeful this year. There is a piccie of them on my Dave The Gardener Blog, July polytunnel update if you wanna have a looksee.
I also have three growing in 5 litre pots in the greenhouse of the garden I was at today and they have just started to flower - the flowers haven't opened yet but are on the point of doing so.Rat

Do aubergines do better when they are a bit pot bound?
I bought a seedling a few months ago and after reading about them I popped it into a large-ish pot. I had a bit of new growth but nothing spectacular and then it started looking sickly - all the leaves went an alarming lime green and began to die slowly.
Anywat, I needed the pot for my squash so I dug it out - the roots were still all close and shaped as they had been in their original pot but it was still alive so in it went to the small pot. Three days later and the leaves have started going back to their original soft green colour; there is new growth and even flower buds! It is the same compost, same watering schedule, it is just pot size that has changed.
Will be very surprised if I get anything auberginey from it but we will see.

I'm having similar thoughts.. tried again this year as I grew a load outside last year, and they all flowered. I thought that by growing them in a greenhouse the extra heat would speed them up a bit!
I've got some seeds left still, so will use them up then probably not buy anymore (though, no doubt in my 'final' year with them they'll all fruit ).
