  • Starting up a new greenhous

Can anyone help me. I have my greenhouse and have an L shaped bed. I have bought compost & manure to fill the beds. Do I need to line the bottom with plastic or do I just fill the beds up with the compost/manure?

Just fill it as you want it free draining. Be prepared to dig it out next year and replenish anew to prevent pest/disease build up.

Hi MrsB. Welcome to the vine..........I'm MrB actually. Still a very warm welcome anyway......... Got my greenhouse yesterday. Isn't it great......I've added compost to the soil and planted my toms in grow pots and chillis direct in the composty soil. Cukes too.

Mine is a u shaped bed so you cannot be my MrsB. Happy sowings!

      Loving my allotment!

Hello and welcome to the vine MrsB

I grow in my greenhouse border and I add some garden soil to the compost that I've taken out my dalek bin.

First thing to ask is where is your greenhouse sited? On concrete, or on soil, or on gravel. Next one is how big is your greenhouse, and what sort of construction? Please get back to us. Oh sorry, forgot to say Welcome to the Vine, and could you please add your location to your profile - it helps no end when giving advice.
