What would it be? Mine would be onions. We seem to eat them with most things all year round!

I'd grow something that I can't buy or pick wild, something with multiple uses and as much flavour as possible. So either sorrel or chard. Can't pick which.

Spuds - my intended is Irish so 'nuff said - won't go down the tattie munchin' bog-hoppin' line - oops!. Though would have to grow scallions with them to make champ

Roquet/rocket (wild) - for 3 main reasons
- Dug up a wee bit of lawn last year and tried to grow some veg. Beans, peas, carrots and roquet. All but the carrots were a success, but it was the fantastic taste of the freshly picked roquet each evening - from our own garden - that took the biscuit (said with French accent ).
- So, then we put our name down on the waiting list for a plot! Now we have our very own plot 57
- That led to looking for advice on the internet - found this fabulous forum
