Thanks for all your tips. Have just checked for any sproutings and guess what, they're sprouting, only just - HURRAY!!! Have them in an electric propogator, how long do I have to keep them in the propogator for? Any advice gratefully received.

Guess that depends on if you have somewhere light and fairly constant to bring them on, and also if you need the space in the propagator. I normally move stuff out a few days after germination. As although I turn it off and open the vents each morning. I have found (bitterly) it is actually quite easy to cook your plants when the sun comes out in spring.

In a greenhouse Its a good thing to have a small heater and some covers at night. I completely bubblewraped the greenhouse. Indoors put them on a table in front of a south window but don't forget to turn off the radiator.

My celeriac germinated OK and it's been planted out for some time now. It's very slow growing but is starting to make tiny little celeriacs. How's everybody else getting on with it.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Your cutting it a bit fine Bernie. They do have a long growing season. You might get better results if you can fleece them come autumn. Mine out since April but I think I got away with it- they are now pretty established and growing away. Bit of celery leaf miner; but they look pretty heathy.

Planted mine out today. Think I sowed them in March!

They are still pitiful looking plants and the roots hadn't even filled the small pots they were in!

Three types of dodgy plants in one bed now...Maca, planted yesterday,Celariac planted today and Florence Fennel sown today!

Ah well, if none of them come to much I've only wasted one bed on them anyway!

I have 800 Celeriac (variety Prinz) planted out a fortnight ago, and bar a few that the pigeons took the leaf tips off, they seem to be settling in well. Can't remember exact date I sowed them (diary left out at work) but was a long time ago. Same as celery plants though I only got 600 to planting out stage. Dunno exact reason as they were kept adjacent to celeriac in the tunnel but seemed to suffer from damping off a lot more easily than other seedlings round about them.
