Don't know if it will make picking any easier, but at least I don't waste the space under the arch.

I love it, I've tried a number of different variations, over the year, v and inverted v. I normally plant lettuce in the middle of the row, which generally has enough time to produce a crop before they get shaded out by the beans.
I like this idea though, I like an arch on the plot, well done creemteez.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

What a grand idea! Neat looking plot too. Are you tidy at home (I'm not!)Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Aww, thanks everyone.
In answer to your questions....
Mrs Twigg - I'm probably going to put the kybosh on myself by saying this, but I don't have a rabbit problem! I do take Beau up with me and he leaves Pee-mails on the boundaries, so perhaps that discourages them!
Bronwen - My Scarlet Emperor Runner Beans have latched on and are on their way up.
Chrismarks - Yes, I was quite into Mechano as a kid - more so than my brother who the sets were bought for!
...and Flum...Are you kidding? House work is for rainy days! (and not always even then!!)When the Devil gives you Cowpats - make Satanic Compost!

Have you seen the munty frames people have made, CT? Just a thought, as if you grow up either side you'll create shade (as you mention) on the bed.. with that frame you leave the south facing side open - so you can plant under, yet still walk under to pick!
Be interesting to find out how well it works though, always keen to try new things

Shadow shouldn't be too much of a problem sa the sun comes up on the left side of the frame and sets towards the rear, right hand side, so all sides get some sun during the course of the day. When the Devil gives you Cowpats - make Satanic Compost!

I think Zaz brought it over from some other forums (where the user 'munty' created this frame). There's various threads about it, but obviously a bit difficult to find currently
I've built a couple of variants of it, have some pics if you'd like to see them - can pm you the addys so I don't gate crash your thread!)
