I've never had a tremendous crop from a container, despite feeding & watering like mad. I only plant one seed per Morrisons bucket (what's that, 20 litre?)

The big advantage for me is that they are scab free though: any spuds I grow in my (alkaline) ground are scabby and orrible

I find the harvest like so many other things depends on the season and as someone else pointed out how long you leave it before you harvest.

My best year for main crop was I think about 4 years ago, I do know we had lots of rain that year. When I havested my dustbins I had chippers only 3" below the surface.

This year I started with 13/14 Morrison pots for new spuds, I am now getting double what I got from the first pot. But like most people I cant wait to get the first new spuds on the plate.
