So what's so great about that, you may well ask. Well, I don't usually grow peas because you need a fair few plants to get a respectable meals worth or two, or so I've found in the past, and so I grow Mangetout instead.
However, that said, this year I did sow some peas for shoots, planted the seedlings into 7 inch pots and have been taking shoots regularly.
Mother nature, it would seem, had other ideas though and ALL my first sowing of peas for shoots (now about 1.5 foot tall and no foliage to speak of as we've eaten it all ) have pods, swelling nicely, tucked up in the greenhouse with the rest of the salads .
Nice bonus but just goes to show that Ma Nature has the last say, whatever we mere mortals may plan.
