contaminated pony poo

I recently planted a cucumber in a large bucket in my mini greenhouse.
I used 50/50 pony poo and general compost; within days the cucumber went limp and fell over; it has since recovered a little but still looks very sorry for itself. I did remember to water it!
I have also used the same approach to my tomatoes and they too have been very slow off the mark this year. My Marmonde plants are only half the size of my Tigerella

I remember reading last year that some manure was infected by some chemicals that were detrimental to many plants. Some of my roses had to be lifted and replaced and they are now suffering too
Has anyone else had this problem?

How old was the poo? If it was contaminated with Aminopyralid then the leaves generally curl up as the chemical stops nutrients from being taken up.....if it's too fresh then it tends to just kill the plant outright.

The poo was virtually two years old.
I still have a couple of buckets left.
What should I do with it?
Do you know if this is a common problem as I was planning to get a few more bags fresh from the stables this month. A fesh start is always a good start.

I would never use pony poo in a greenhouse, certainly not in pots. We get occasional deliveries on the lottie, first come first served, and it either goes into the Daleks to rot down or onto the bean trench or the asparagus bed, depending on the time of the year.

I'd try and find out what the problem actually is before you use it again or do anything with it...

Why's that then? I always bulk out the big pots with some muck (usually cow though), generally works fine. Although I think this year I may have put too much in some as I seem to have had either poor root growth or rotting roots. Could this be your problem Ken? If you've loads of muck near the roots and it's got waterlogged the roots might have drowned. A couple of seasons ago I planted out toms and cucumbers in the ground and we had a huge sudden downpour and they all died.

this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ cus tend to commit suicide of their own free will so are not good for testing manure!
