First Tomatoes

While looking at my tomato plants yesterday, I noticed that open of them has two very small tomatoes on it. They are on the first truss. There is one more flower truss on the plant, with open flowers.

Just wondering is it time to start tomato feed on the plant?

When the first truss has set is usually a good time to start feeding them. Hopefully the others will follow shortly!

Depending on what you're feeding them, will determine this - if it's something like a bottle of tomato feed there will be instructions on the back of the bottle. If you're feeding them something like a comfrey/nettle tea then you'll want to dilute it down until it's the colour of weak tea (perhaps something like 1:10?).

Do your watering frist, then feed afterwards, as if you feed first and then water (from the top, at least anyway if they're in pots) you'll just wash the feed down/out of the pots).

If they are in something like a Morrisons bucket and your using tomorite give them twice the recommended dosage.

Mine are still in small pots and only feed them a few times need to pull my finger out but so far most of them are setting there fourth and fifth trusses so maybe the stress of the small pots are speeding up the trusses ??but will be potting them into there final pots tomorrow ..
