Tomatoes

I have some tomatoes that have germinated and are growing quite leggy (on living room windowsill) I am going to repot them into larger pots up to the leaves. Is it safe to put these in my plastic greenhouse as I am running out of room in the house? it gets really warm in there during the day.

I wouldn't- too extreme of temperature variation.
The floor/beds end up being an extension of the windowsills in our house!!

I only get good light on one side of the house, the only place to put them is in the dining room/second bedroomm which doesnt get a lot of light will they be ok in there and should i turn down the heating in there

How big is your plastic g/h? We put our toms/aubs/chilli seedlings down in our unheated g/h during the day (when it warms up 1st thing & back in the kitchen as the light goes).

If I was you I would make an internal greenhouse inside your greenhouse. I do this by using a pot 2 sizes bigger than the pot you have your tomato’s in and some bubble wrap.

Roll the bubble wrap around the bigger pot making a tub around it - allowing it to be as high as you think you need (like a loo roll leaving the top open). Then put your tomato pot inside that and back into the greenhouse to stay.

Don’t forget your double sided sticky tape and an adult to supervise you when using scissors.

Good idea SF, but I quite like walking them up and down (its not far!), and keeping an eye on them in the evenings. LOL! Sad but true.

I put mine in the greenhouse and the conservatory during the day and take them into the house at night. they were sown end of Jan and are doing great.

I have a 6 x 4ft greenhouse but might get a 3 tier mini greenhouse to go inside it which can be used for other stuff when the tomatoes are big enough to cope in the main greenhouse

oh dear, I've sown my tomatoes into seed trays straight into my plastic greenhouse (as per the packet), it must be 2 weeks this weekend and I must admit I was wondering why nothing was happening. I take it I should have them indoors. Should I empty the tray and start again or just bring it in......

Kimbo I'd put the toms out into the g/h, can you keep an eye on them to check they don't get too hot/cold?

mikk100 - I'd bring them indoors somewhere warm and see what happens.

Take the tray indoors Milk100. I think you'll find they'll soon germinate.
