Pepper armpits question

Hello all!

Hope everyone is well, I haven't been in for a while!

My peppers are coming along nicely and all 6 are flowering. I just wondered whether I should be removing their armpit shoots as you do on tomatoes?

No, you don't remove pepper armpits. That is only for cordon tomatoes.

If they are getting very tall you can nip out the growing tip to encourage it to bush out. The more side shoots the better with peppers. When you do start getting peppers it is also advised by some that you remove the first one as it encourages others to get a crack-on.

My chillie and peppers are finnaly starting to bushout and flower so I will leave until they get too big and then nip them out can't wait for fresh sweet peppers ..

My peppers have just got to about 2ft high and the growing tips were removed today and proper canes put in for support as the peppers start to swell. They have small peppers on so I gave them a good feed of tomorite at the same time.

Mine are just starting to set fruit and I don't nip out v shoots - just for cordon toms, that one!

I've never really noticed armpits on peppers, I'll take a better look at mine when I go to the stayput.

I am wondering would armpits cause the leaves to drop?
I went downstairs this morning to find one of my Cali wonder peppers has shed its bottom 8 large leaves and left just 3 at the top and fruit plus the cotyledons.

Armpits won't make the leaves drop - I would suggest they have been either under or over watered. What size pot is it in? And Cotyledons ? (I thought these were the first (false) leaves, usually on beans and peas.

Yeh it still has it's first leaves and as for watering I have been keeping them a little on the dry side but my other wonder is fine, pots at 7", wanted to keep them on the smaller side as they are on my window sill both plants have set several fruits.

How tall are your plants? I would think 7" pots might be a bit on the big side for them at the moment. I pot mine on very gradually till they get going.

I also treat mine rather mean. They are currently still in 5in pots and have several peppers on them
