  • Cherry tomato's

Hi, i've got 6 cherry tomato plants growing really nicely, only on one plant there seems to be white spots at the bottom of the main stalk, from the bottom to about 2 inches up. They kind of look like a wart???

A pic would help, but if I guess correctly it is nothing to worry about, I think they are root nubs i.e. if that part of the stem was underground it would throw out roots.

It's trying to root. If you have room in the pots (assuming they are in pots) you could cover them with more compost, but in any case, they are normal. Don't panic!

They're in a jamie oliver grow bag, reasonably deep but yeah originally part of it maybe was under compost in it's original pot.

        thanks

As Flum says, they are new roots. Earth it up a bit if you can

Don't worry it will come to no harm, if it is in a pot big enough to support its growth everything will be fine.

Vines tend to throw out these root nubs through out their life span.

Hope you're reassured now. It's quite scarey when you're new to growing isn't it?
