Beetroot has been a no show, so I just sowed loads and I mean loads, guess what they are ALL coming up now, beetroot overload I suspect. Spring onions only a few and not doing a lot just sitting where I sowed them, Broad beans have now been pulled up as got hit with blackfly no matter what I did. Peas being eaten by pigeons.
Most thinks are ok despite lack of rain for weeks and weeks.

Honestly . my garlic, went in in November and it is lovely and separated in to cloves but it the size of a large spring onion

im dissapointed with all my direct sowings of root veg at my plot. april was so hot and dry they just never got going.

rocket- they just ran straight to seed due to the heat.

                  Long List:
ALL beans (so far)...french ones got decimated by slugs, rubbish crop from my overwinter broadies, then the broadies I planted at the lottie are covered in blackfly (rubber gloves and me are paying a visit tomorrow...I will have revenge...evil laugh) runners are looking ok ish but not very big yet. Oh and all my peas, except my parsley peas which were kept seperate, died...
All my radishes so far this year have bolted.
All my potimarron squashes were mauled by next door's cats using the area as a toilet. Same with my marrow.
My damson got mealybugs super early cos of the weather and , no matter what, I cant get rid of them!!
My scented geraniums are pretty dead.
Next door killed my virginia creeper by painting the leaves with THAT STUFF!! (It was revenge for me killing their brambles and ivy that completely overtook our fence and pulled it down.)
My kohl Rabi were doing beautifully, then got aphids (which I didnt see under the netting) and are decimated.....
                  That'll do for now
Oh and beetroot no show at all...

Glad it's not just me having an issue with beetroot, seems to be a trending topic.

The ever popular rocket bolting... radishes the same - pop up and bolt almost immediately! ANything in the greenhouse especially if I started it from seed. It all seems so slow and weak. The couple plants I bought in (peppers chillis) are going ok in there.

Also my own planning. Atleast I learned not to plant rows of peas and mange tout next to each other. Not a problem for some but I am cramming stuff in so 1 ft spacing meant they are all over each other with no way to tell them apart lol. Various other similar space problems which I am remembering for next years planning (I hope....)

Am very disappointed with my courgettes , still really small and just a couple of flowers on one plant , and also my dwarf bush french beans , not much happening there, going to keep on sowing though.
Great thread , it helps to know that even the seasoned grapes have good and bad years with different things.

Not wishing to wish ill on any of you but reading this thread has really cheered me up. I have been thinking i have been doing something wrong this year, new seed supplier, to hot, ground not prepped correctly. Seems everyone has been struggling this year so i feel better knowing its not just me

I agree.. its easier to say what is doing well. Plums, Apples, Parsnips.
Runna Beans look thin and pale and are well behind but starting to catch up now.
                            Climbing French beans a disaster.
Red onions a disasters, but others showing promise.
                            Beets well behind.
                            and so on....

This thread does illustrate that even the most seasoned growers have difficulties and disappointments, which is great for people just starting out because it will encourage them not to give up if their results are poor. I thought I had got everything right this year for my tomatoes (this has got to be about the tenth year I've grown them), but then had a disaster. You get over it and then get on with it!

My chilli plants are woeful. However, it's my own fault for sowing them rather late, and into inferior GPC. They need a feed.
