My peas Kelverton Wonder seem to be doing very well this year. Nice and early and plenty of peas.

Anyone else found the same maybe the weather is good for something.

I'm jealous. My lotty peas have been appalling, the pigeons/sparrows ate them and the drought hasn't helped.

I had the foresight to sow my heritage ones at home, and they're doing brilliantly though, enjoying the run-off from my compost heap

We've just started taking from our first sowings ( I've actually managed to do 3 sowings so far!!!).
Yes- really good year- although we've had to do more hand watering which was a bit of a pain!

Must say- I love how you've fixed them to the fence- I bet your neighbour was looking forward to some pretty, scented sweet pea flowers though????

Funny enough no, the arrangment is any on his side he gets to eat, need less to say he is popping out on a regular basis at the moment.

Yes I am going for a second planting this year the seeds are chitting at this time, they will then be grown on in 3" pots ready to take the place of these when they are finnished.

OMG!!!...what is it with fresh peas??? I nipped into the garden/field to pick some for supper- but there was only enough for one small portion....so I ate them then and there!!!!!

( the geese ate the pods- so there's nothing left! )

Te he!!...no wonder the guys on here think they're having a rubbish year for peas!!!!

We've had several meals of the yellow mange-tout (can't keep up with them - it's only a short row 1.2m but they get huge! Sadly not so nice to eat as peas) - still going (up and up)
Next load of peas went in last weekend into root-trainers to grow up the existing ones in a couple of weeks time - yum!

My sugar-anne snap peas, which usually grow to about 3ft, stopped at 18ins this year and are finished already...a very small harvest cos of the drought I suppose. None for rhe freezer this year
Alderman tall peas planted a couple of weeks later than the sugarsnaps are doing really well though, with plenty of flowers. Only a few pods so far off those, and they didn't make it far LOL

My lotty ones are all very small with nibbled at leaves is this the pigeons?? Luckily my son did some at home that are doing great.
