I started watching Dr George Cook but was distracted by the banner ad that flashed across his picture - "D-K cup bras" lol

(I certainly haven't been googling for such products: I guess google must think it's a suitable ad for people who like allotment gardening )

I wish I could make fruit cages - his are awesome

          It's a very pro set-up, but wouldn't suit me... I couldn't spot a single bee or ladybird

Wow! Not surprising he won a prize.

I'd like to know how he trains his blackcurrants, we'd like ours to take up a bit less space and be easier to net.

May just say how much I hate... ah... admire him?

              LMAO!

It is a lovely, lovely allotment, and gertainly looks very efficient and productive. I went in to allotmenting last year having seen this video and thinking along the very same lines of a highly ordered plot... and have morphed into something rather different. Depending on your viewpoint, more sloppy or coexisting with the natural landscape, or whatever.

I have a few raised beds, and they look pretty, and they enclose a space that I may well put a bench and flowers, but I'm not planning on any more shall we say. Just plants in t'ground.

Either way, I reckon my small half plot will produce enough grub to feed the lad and I or much of the year! I do think this plot is fantastic though.

Wow. That is really nice, and healthy. Some good ideas to rob!

What ever floats your boat, but I just think how many more rows of spuds/carrots/beans could I get in if you took the slabs up.

It's easy to think this is just allotment chequebook gardening, but quite clearly he has invested a lot of effort, time and talent in making the most of what he has - his mind just runs on straighter lines than most of ours. If we ever have to "dig for victory" again, his is an allotment to learn from.
I'll bet the wildlife doesn't care if his plants are in rows, pots or straggly lines...bees aren't fussy ! But, I wonder if there are any spots in his garden where he just lets the wildlife do the untidy thing, or is he too efficient ?

TS, I think Google must have a Scot working in their ad department. As we would say hereabouts, he has a "bra(w)" garden !

Probably think all female gardeners are Charlie Dimmock lookalikes

I think someone posted this last year and the general feeling was that it was just a bit too regimented. Personally I like a bit of chaos which you'll discover if you visit my blog.

My daughter and I went over to Liverpool earlier today and I was able to visit his allotment. He is a lovely man and showed us around his plot. It is even better than the videos and he has a full time job!

We have come back truly inspired and ready to adopt many of his ideas. His polytunnel was busting with life....truly amazing experience.

                              Loving my allotment!
