A potato question!

Bit of an unusual one really.

I grew up in Cheshire and have memories of my mom rushing out to get the first Jersey Royals and then not long afterward rushing out to get the first of the Early Cheshires.

I know what a Jersey Royal is....but what on earth is an Early Cheshire- is it generally a specific type of potato??? I seem to recall they were round,pale and a bit watery but a delicate flavour.
Anyone got a clue????

Could it be these? The Ulster sceptre are also known as Cheshire or Ormskirk potatoes. I found this and realised it is Tattieman's website. Unfortunately, they are out of stock but I wonder if a word in his ear might help

Im from Staffordshire, which is next door to Cheshire, my mum used to go to Sandbach market especially to buy new Cheshire potatoes,(a round trip of 20 miles on the bus) think that was pre kids, but after she had us lot she got them locally and they were completely delicious, will see her today and ask her the name if she can remember. We had potatoes out of the garden this week and it made me think of those very potatoes.

Saw my mum and asked her but she couldnt remember, she wasnt sure if the variety of potatoe was ever displayed. Quite often it just said new potatoes.

I'm not particularly fussed about growing them tbh....but it's something I've wondered about for years!!!
