    Jeannie D recommended these:

    Squash

Just picked 4 from one plant this morning - all smaller than the final size but enough for 2 meals tonight.

Already they are the most successful courgette this year.

Sown a good month after the others - as I hadn't got any seeds at the start of the season and didn't buy them until early May.

I feel more pickled courgettes coming on in future weeks....

I bought a pack, but haven't sown them (forgot about them until you just posted!) That said, I did only buy the packet as I thought they looked amusing. Child at heart?

I sowed another batch 2 weeks ago and planted them out this last weekend; go on, sow some. You know you want to

Oh Nooooooooooo Zaz. I've nowhere to put them except flower buckets. I have very few strawberries in the bed, (those "free" plants don't look as though they are going to arrive until September) I wonder if I could "catch" a couple of these in there?

Anyone got a couple of seeds they will offer to someone who has grown only nettles this year? I really hope it is nice weather next weekend as I must find my veg beds and get something in there!

I've a packet somewhere of them, Shirl! I'll have a look for them tonight and drop you a PM.. May not be tonight mind, as we've just emptied a "junk" room/garage, and made it into a playroom.. *everything* in the house is upside down. They're not in my seed box, but are probably in a drawer somewhere

The minute I started reading this thread I guessed what the squashes must be...have raved about them elsewhere but no one responded *sob*...you can get them from various other places too as Tromboncinos. I grew one from a seedling last year and it was mahoosive...if you can be bothered search the threads to find my slightly more detailed rave. Trying several this year and spreading the word...Jeanie, have you tried any other companies' seeds or just these ones? I want to get the best I can find as am now obsessed...
[just found the fascinating post myself in case anyone's interested]
Tromboncinos are the business! Seriously. Last year my single one (in ground not pot) grew about 4 metres in several directions simultaneously - and if I'd realised I should check its growth I'd have had more fruit. As it was, they were huge, hilariously phallic and delicious...can't recommend them enough. Anyone else?

I have grown these for the last 2 years. They taste like normal courgettes and are great fun. Be aware that they grow like triffids but they are quite happy trained up a wigwam or trellis.
Shirl, I definitely have a few left so pm me your address and I'll get some sent to you
