  • too late for french beans?

hi, is it too late for me to plant another row of french beans now?

Well, my dwarf golden tepee say up until late July...

I was tempted to put some in a container yesterday but didn't in the end. What does the packet say for yours?

Should be OK if you get going this week or next , warmest sunniest spot you can find and make sure you keep up with the watering. May not reach full potential depends on the weather later in the season but well worth a go. A cloche may help at the end of the season worth about 2 weeks in most places.

Marshalls' website says sowing outside up until June. They'd probably do ok undercover I guess? Depends when your first frosts are I'd have thought.

this link that I found from this post suggests July is fine for a late crop.

They'd probably mature a lot faster undercover anyway, particularlly as it's going to start getting cooler after next month..

I am planning to sow another few batches this afternoon... my seed packet says to sow until end July so I will give it a bash. Good luck!

I plant them all through the summer, well in to August. They grow really fast this time of year, and when its stayed warm I've picked in September.

Just keep sowing them, nothing to lose.

10 weeks from sowing to maturity of French beans I think so July August and September should all be ok before the frosts

Sowed some more today. Have actually got more room on the plot than I thought, so will put a load more in within the next week to freeze for winter.
