Disappointing varities

Well I saw the same sort on the market t'other day and the guy said they were expensive .........I had a fair old crop off them which were used in various things I even had some for freezing . I only have limited space in the gh but they are one of those things that I look on as a challenge so to me they are worth it.

aubergines need hotter weather than we usually get, you really have to either provide more heat, or de-sideshoot and limit the flowers.

Anyone tried a new variety this year that they are now regretting?

My most disappointing varieties have been Duke of York early potatoes - they are plentiful but just go straight from uncooked to mush in the pan and are pretty bland - and deep purple spring onions - tasteless and pointless!

My Red Duke of York and Kestrel grown in bags of MPC + chicken poo pellets have been the same. Raw or mush and very bland. We've got loads to go yet but other half has started buying supermarket spuds again and keeps 'forgetting' we've got home grown ones ready to cook.
The first lot of home grown Charlottes last weekend where nearly as bad, yet the Rocket we had earlier in the season where superb, high yield very clean and uniform, boiled easily and loads of taste.
Maybe they've been over watered or something.
