  • early outdoor tomato varieties

Got my first outdoor tomato today... a sungold, same as last year.
Anyone else got any great tasting early tomato varieties?

I grow my Sungold in the GH, outside its Tumbler in hanging baskets, been eating those for about 3 weeks, very tasty to.

I always like Red Alert for an outdoor tomato. Lovely flavour and doesn't need pinching out or tying up as it's a bush tom.

          Sorry!
Had to nip out as my wife had a baby! Yes really!
Oooh I'll try all those next year, how are they taste wise?

Congratulations! Red Alert is very tasty. Sungold often voted top in taste - sweet with a bit of acid to set it off.

I'm definitely going to try Red Alert next time, BTW I know we chatted about breeding tom varieties last year... have you seen any decent pictures of how to do this on websites?
              Ta!

then we agree on two things!
though if we are talking about flavour i'd have to go for floridity...

Not really. You get descriptions but it's hard to follow. Try Rebsie Fairholm's blog as I seem to remember she does pictures. Google Daughter of the Soil and you'll get her. There's a link on my blog to hers too.
