  • Is there ever a good time to pong in your garden?

I tend to leave it till late at night so there's a chance that the wiff will have gone from the pong.
Did this last night yet there's still quite a fragrant lingering odour.
The mixture was a pretty potent combination of comfrey, nettle, and worm tea.
Personally It doesn't bother me, i think it smells of countryside and fertility.

Still a wee bag of spuds to the neighbours either side won't go amiss I suppose
Clay soil is just the big yins way of letting you know nothing good comes easy.

My first ever batch of comfrey tea should be ready in two weeks, the more I read about it the less I'm looking forward to using it

Ach it's grand stuff and your plants will love you for it. Just don't get any on your hands. It's hard to get rid of the smell.

I don't have the problem, at home I keep it in a plastic milk carton and pour it into the watering can, dilute and feed. By the time the feed has sunk in the whiff has pretty much blown away. Are you keeping yours open to the elements? Perhaps try a different method....

Oh Ginger, I nearly lost a cup of tea with laughing there.

I actually visualised myself wearing those.

I use the TS method mostly now. Stuff empty 2 litre milk cartons with the leaves, pour in water, put on cap (not too tight, there's a chance the gas produced might blow). Leave for a couple of weeks and then it's ready. Easy to pour into watering can to dilute. Peg on nose and off you go. I accidentally watered my sandalled feet last week and didn't give it a thought until later, when Himself said "Your feet smell disgusting". I do have two open containers with a brew in though, but I have no immediate neighbours!

The worst ever smell in the garden is someone else's barbecue, and that can float across from doors away and fill the house before you have time to close all the windows. Compared to that, a bit of decomposing comfrey is sweet meadow hay.

                  Endless wonder.

You may laugh - but walking round farmer's markets with ginge in that get up is not funny.

Think i must be immune to the smell because it doesn't bother me at all were as Mr Pots nearly throws up if he happens to be outside when I'm watering with comfrey tea.

I do store it in milk cartons, I do 'brew' it in an open tub next to my compost heap right at the back so it's not too bad really. Might try the patented TS leaves in bottle method

What's the "shelf life" of Comfrey Tea?

Methinks a stronger deterrent is needed! Get a feeder attachment for your hose and make sure you 'accidentally' spray the old codger!
