Well done you! The highlight of my growing year so far was my first salad 100% from my garden... it included steamed broad beans, red & yellow cherry toms, cucumber (my first time!), grated baby beetroot, spring onions, mixed salad leaves and a dressing made with home-grown garlic, basil and chilli. Delicious!

Dinner this eve was a Thai stir-fry with pak choi, runner beans, courgettes and coriander. Yum.

Bren it's the best felling since growing my first toms and strawbs last year when I started ..can't wait for next year now ..planning how I'm gowing to use my space more efficiently next year want to grow more onions and leeks and garlic in the autum for spring ..hoping the rewards were getting from the garden will encourage the misses to let me have the other bed next to the one iv converted this year ..would double my growing space to about 18sqm ..if I can convince here before autum il be able to dig it over and treat it before spring

That'll be a decent amount of space.

The other day we totted up our various bits of 'dedicated to veg' space and have about 200sq ft, which I think is about 18 sq m, and it's just about enough for us, with everything crammed in quite close together, and a lot of interplanting.

We don't grow potatoes because they take up so much space and because the neighbour's spuds always get blight. Our blackcurrants and almost all our herbs are amongst flowering perennials, where they look quite pretty - they're also very carefully labelled to avoid mistakes.

I grow my spuds on top of a bike shed in the garden as it gets full sun .about 14 bags and some large plastic oil tubs from work. Thinking about planting fruit bushes between the shrubs in the garden too does it work well then?? Not to much compassion for nutrients ?? Good crops?
