  • my veggies at the moment..

The cauli's are all done (some in the freezer) mayflower- excellent, will grow again next year, possibly slightly earlier.

The garlic is all drying and harvested, its small, most of it split but it was 38p from the supermarket so I cant really complain- must buy proper garlic this autumn!

shallots, still growing, quite large, duck egg sized i would say, still quite hard and show no signs of dying back - must grow more shallots next year!

The sprouts are looking fine, nice and tall, well established, plenty of caterpillars eating away, looking forward to the crop- regrow next year- TBA!

Lettuce, I never have any luck with lettuce, i always grow them too close, get too many bugs on/in them. give up on lettuce!!

potato- earlies and salads, lovely foliage, but last time i looked there were very few tiny tatties, keep feeding, keep watering, give a couple more weeks - grow next year?? yes, must always grow tatties regardless of results!!

courgettes, defender, a favourite of mine, two mature plants, over ten from each so far, still going, lovely. I dont actually like courgettes very much, fried in butter with loads of black pepper with onions, garlic and/or tomato is the only way. -grow next year...yes! always and forever.

peas, early onward, nice, only really eaten raw - you cant beat peas from the pod! or added to stirfries, stews etc etc...older pods getting attacked by maggots, never going to grow enough to feed the family but a nice treat. -grow next year, yeah its nice for the kids!

runner beans, hestia, on the way, plenty of flowers, heres hoping!!

Tomato marmande, lots of giant green fruits, some catfaced, some staring to turn red, one already ripe, quite tough skins, may only be good for cooking!
tumbling tom, starting to fruit, looking a bit yellow!

French beans, cant remember the name but will have to look it up, very stringy, even the small new beans, i dont like stringy beans!!!!

Broad beans, sutton, absolutely excellent, cant fault them will buy again!!, actually i wont as i have more than enough pods left for next years seed!!

chilli, waiting for them to turn, have shed loads on the big plant, hundreds, feeding with tomato feed, in fact everything that has fruit has had tomato feed, i love hot food...come on chillies!!!

carrots, early nantes i think, going well, now reaching maturity, have a crop in the raised beds, showing some signs of fly, another crop under glass, no fly and bigger roots but a few forked, will continue my carrot growing!

sorry its a bit of an essay but not had much time to log-on lately!

    must get some photo's on.

French beans: let them form seeds inside and eat them as kidney or 3 bean salad type beans. Loads of uses
