    No. The plant sprawls to find additional points to throw down anchor points to take up additional water and nutrients. You remove all but two fruit usually (second being a back up) to force all the goodness into the one fruit if you want one for Cinderella carriage!

    P.S. You still have a long growing time yet so your melon size could be monsters in another 2/3 months!

      I think my one is thinking things over. Looks healthy enough and it's got a yellow golfball on it but it needs a boot up the backside. My other pumpkins are football sized.

        Mine is teeny too, tennis ball size! Need to give it a good feed soon, as others in the same bed are much bigger. My jack o lantern is a large water melon size in comparison.

          I'm really gutted now because out of the 2 pumpkins I was growing i now have1 instead I was turning the 1 of them and I snapped it off the main stem. I was so gutted although that was the smallest of the 2 I had. I took it home and weighed it and it was already 29kg, if it already weighs that I can't wait to see what the other one weighs in the end. I think I best leave this one too it though and not bother turning it again just invade.
