Sunlight and cool temperatures intensify the blue colour. To check for ripeness its always worth having a check on the most shaded part of the fruit as this is most likely to retain its original colour and the fruit will show the normal green to red ripe.
I've just been out to check my OSU - yeah still green ball bearings but my Blue Berry toms are starting to change colour Seeds were sown on the same day but the BB are at least a couple of weeks ahead of the OSU. I did not have high hopes for the BB as they are sulky plants (well this far North they are) - constant leaf curl.
Off to the plot, fingers crossed there may be some ripe ones.
These coloured toms are great fun, I got these in a swap, but looking up blue or black toms, there are loads more to try out there! Blue Berry sounds good
