Blackened peppers

Naturally I picked them off and threw them out before I thought to get a photo...

anyway a few of the peppers I am growing in a plastic greenhouse thingy seemed to get some kind of nasty. Part of it went black and squishy. Several peppers were affected. I picked off the offending peppers. There are some more growing, do you think they will be ok?

This isn't the same as the black bits on the stems which I am led to be lieve is how peppers are meant to me, certainly mine all are.

I'm only growing two pepper plants (inside, and one outside) so I don't want to ditch the whole thing. Perhaps it's getting too hot in my greenhouses? I'm a bit rubbish and often forget to air them *grin*

My peppers are getting quite big now and the fruits have black patches on them, which is also a quite normal part of the ripening as they turn red.

But "squishy" definitely sounds like some kind of rot.

Tis a pain in this weather..........keep the doors & windows closed for warmth and you get condensation and mould - keep them open and everything sulks cos it's too cold

you may be giving too much water and we are getting cooler weather,dont water them until you can put your finger into the compost and it comes out clear of signs of the compost,leave the g/house door open unless it is tipping down,they come from an arid region of the world,so treat accordingly,a bit of tough love and they should thrive...remove any dodgy looking peppers so they cant infect any fresh fruit...good luck with them..

you should try it up here,it rained may,june, and the start of july,with frosts,so always remember theres always next year....

ah no these were defo some kind of rot I suspect. Erratic watering- yeah quite possibly. Ahem.

I will leave the covers open for a week or so, they will sulk and not grow, because it's not that warm at the mo, but hopefully it will allow everything to get nice and dry. Except the soil, which I shall water more regularly. Thank you all
