      There's interesting. I have always blanched, although I did try some runner beans unblanched last year, but wasn't keen. It would make loads less work for me, particularly with regard to caulies.

        This preserving thing is SWMBO domain and having asked the question she stopped blanching 3 years ago.

        As to runners she washes and slices them dries them on kitchen towel them pops them into the freezer in a bag.

          Life is too short to blanche and I find that my veggies are much crisper if I don't blanche, especially as I often only cook for about the time they recommend the blanching!

          Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

          Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                  I have always blanched but wont now to see how it compairs, would save me loads more time I can spend down the plot :-)

                    Swmbo seems to have the runners down to a fine art, frozen as above, when needed place in pan of cold water bring to temperature and serve straight away.
