I have a noticed quite a lot of tiny little black flies on the chilli and pepper plants on my window sill. How can I get rid of them?

Sounds like sciarid fly to me. They lay their eggs into soil and their maggots feed on plant roots. I've been using a predatory mite to keep mine under control that I got from Harrod Horticulture.... Mighty Mite!!! Seems to be doing the job as there's no damage and very few adult flies, however you can't really see anything as they are so small!!

Fungus gnats, due to over-wet compost. There are 100s of old threads on this, but basically you need to repot into fresh compost, washing the roots well first.
Then water from the bottom, like this: ‪how to water seedlings‬‏ - YouTubeAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
