A very good year for green tomatoes Good for Sugar Pie pumpkins (yes they do grow this far north, which I'm gob smacked at and I'll make a BIG pumpkin bed for them next year). I won't mention beans.

You know, it's been brilliant for me in that I've fallen back in love with gardening - held an allotment until earlier this year with some friends, but a falling out with them meant we never spent as much time up the plot; it just wasn't as much fun any more, and this had been going on for a good eighteen months. Not great.

End of May this year things really came to a head - jacked it in and had enough, handed our waterbutt key back, went home, and put a few bits and pieces into a few buckets on the patio. Had our first lettuces earlier last month, and this week enjoyed fresh green beans, carrots and spuds for dinner. Back into it now in a big way

Tomatoes and cucumbers in the greenhouse - brilliant. Outdoor toms too.
Cauliflower at the plot - first year I have had successful ones .... have decided that rain at the right time certainly helps.
Beans - French and runner - great.
Alliums of all description - great. Sturon particularly. I'll be growing those again.
Beetroot (my favourite) disappointing - sweetcorn (OH's favourite) likewise.
Stone fruit - plums, greengages, damsons - amazing.
Gherkins - put them in the ground this year, rather than big pots .... won't be doing that again! Easier to water and feed in tubs.
Early Potatoes - back to Lady Christl next year. Don't really like Maris Bard.
