        I call it as it says on the packet, and my packet says that this big bulbous purpley orangey yellowy thing is a swede.
        The smaller purply whiteish or just white one is a turnip. At least thats what the other packet says

            I got a surprise my first year on the plot, sowed turnip and got purpley white things. Thats when I first found out about the turnip/swede issue.

            Didn't make that mistake again, no-one liked them.
