Courgette flowering

I am getting mostly male flowers on long stems and very few femail ones with courgettes on. Is there a reason for this. The plants are very healthy and are growing strongly.

Mine were like that two weeks ago.... Tuesday I picked 8 (five green and three yellow!)

I hear you have to ignore them and don't pressurize them too much. Ours were way behind as they got hit by late frost, but we went away for a week, came back and they'd gone mad. I may live to regret that late sowing of 7 more

mine were like that for what i thought was ages but was probably 10 days. Today I picked 8 from 3 plants and I haven't dared go to the polytunnel, I know i'll find marrows.
Turn your back on them and don't peek for a few days

Two marrows today in two days of not looking! Eeks! They're magic vegetables - might have to change my mind on my option on Zazen's poll.

Courgettes are shy and preferred to be ignored (unlike pumpkins who love to show off their babies and grow them at a tremendous rate of knots once the fruit is set)
