  • I went to the garden centre ......

..... with £10 in my purse, just enough to only buy the 4 bags of 60ltr compost I needed (it's the only way to stop me spending on things I'd like but we don't need ) but it was cold, and so I grabbed my jacket which I'd left in the truck, put it on, put my hand in my pocket and found ...... a £1 coin

Now there isn't much for less than a fiver, never mind £1, in our garden centre.

I tried to walk towards the entrance! I promise! I did! But my legs walked me to the seed section and so I thought "Well there's no harm in looking" and horror of horrors ALL the seeds were half price! Even worse, there was this packet of trully beautiful Amethyst Dwarf French Beans, all on its' lonesome' on its' hook needing a new home for 95p

For sowing mid April to July (well it's still July - just about), this variety is, apparently, suitable for containers. So, I reckon I'm going to sow them tomorrow in the greenhouse and then plant them into a couple of the builders buckets we use as planters because these have handles which means that when the cukes are finished in the greenhouses, I'll be able to move the bean tubs into the greenhouse for extra protection, giving me time to grow a decent crop of lovely purple pods

    Reet (totally unrepentent)

I was very good on my last visit as I didn't buy anything. And they even had T&M seeds all at half price, now there's will power for you. Mind you I came back home and spent £20 on garlic and onion sets of the net, and it was £20 the other day for saffron crocus. And to make things even worse the Kings allotment seed catalogue came yesterday.

You go for it! I still keep cruising the aisles and I have my £10 T and M voucher to spend. It felt so good to sow again the other day. Have felt bereft of late having nothing to put in my fresh washed trays. Still plenty to do though...
