Was it hard to grow ? I keep hearing that cucumbers don't have to be like those things they sell in the shops...but if it's a large plant that needs lots of tlc and a greenhouse, I'll give it a miss !There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.

I have most of mine under cover but trying to grow an outdoor variety this year as well without much success. Biggest problem with cues is their determination to commit hari kari(probably spelled wrongly) with the stems deteriorating at ground level if the compost is kept too wet. I get over that by growing mine in a bottomless 2 ltr pot on top of a large pot/bucket. Both full of compost btw . The taste compared to shop bought ones is truly amazing and like the end of the tomato crop, the end of the summer cue crop is a huge miss until next year.

Cue cumbersome jokes....
So how big are the plants ? I have the chance of some double glazed glass (out of a shop freezer unit), I was thinking of a cold/hot frame sort of thing - but would 31 inches square be big enough ?There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.

Hmm, thank you for those words of wisdom. I always prefer to learn from others' experience rather than my mistakes !
Off to chop my tattie haulms tomorrow, I'd like to leave them in but can't go into Aberdeen to check 'em every day and with Blightwatch warnings on the go I don't think I can risk it...There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.
