I managed to lob off a branch of my tomatoes last week so added them to a chutney... can't wait to try it. I have also used them before in pasta sauces to add another dimension.

I always feel it's miles too early to make green tom chutney in August. Mid-September, ok - and still some will ripen.

I do, I do - when they are raw. (Just about to lift the big ones to ripen off for the shows. Fingers crossed no surprises underneath)

Tried green tomato marmalade last year for a change. Still got jars left and still enjoying it on toast! Yum.

Brilliant, thanks for these replies. I will grow yellow Zebra next year but I will be making the chutney come September - not August, noted. River Cottage noted.
Green tomato marmalade, that sounds intreaguing, is it sweet, savoury? Description please Snadger.

There is also a recipe for Green Tomato Soup on here somewhere - now that is really nice! Will try to find it and put a link.

Determined to make some this year (have left around eight trusses per plant to make sure!) - last year I picked loads green but they all ripened within a week or two before I found a good recipe...
