I have spent almost nothing on my plot - seeds and tools were bought using vouchers I got for Christmas - and I spend hardly any time there due to small children who refuse to sleep, probably a couple of hours a week. I would probably get more produce if I spent more on it and had more time to look after it but I still get plenty and I'm sure that I'm definitely in profit. However it's a bit of a meaningless bit of accountancy because there's no way I'd ever buy this many courgettes or chard or shallots. And quite often I find that in trying to use up a glut, I inadvertently spend more on other ingredients to go with in the recipe.
