Best time for harvesting and method please from anyone who has done this successfully. Have quite a sizeable plant and need to deal with it and get off lots of lovely root.

I tried some grated and mixed with vinegar and cream a few weeks ago! Wasn't impressed! Very mild I thought.

Oh that doesn't sound so good. Was that your own and had you just dug it up? I think you take it up in Autumn but I am not 100% sure. I know you plant again in March. I didn't know whether I could just put my spade in and take a slice off.

You can harvest horseradish as often as you want VVG.

Oh right thanks Zaz. Can you just chop your spade in and break a bit off? Sorry for the dumb questions, just never done it before and with a Yorkshireman in the house I don't want to kill it...I'd never be forgiven:-)

Don't know but my dad makes his own horseradish sauce from what he finds growing alongside the railway track next to his house and his tip for when grating them is wear goggles - apparently they're worse than onions.

Whatcha on aboot, ya cheeky young EX MODERATOR whippersnapper!

I'm hardly likely to say it was good when it wasn't am I. If summats cack I'll say so!

Just to keep you happy I WAS impressed with my Jalapeno omelette earlier!

The horseradish was an escapee....... so as I was pulling it out anyway I thought I may as well use it. Maybe its like parsnips and swede and need a slight frost to highlight the flavour, I don't know!
