    have a good crop of peach habaneros,jalapenos,cayenne and scotch bonnets this year,now SWMBO is asking me to grow "some of those ones they do in the kebeb shop" anyone know what variety would be suitable for pickling in this way
    don't be afraid to innovate and try new things
    remember.........only the dead fish go with the flow

    The kebab shop ones are Jalapenos, but you could experiment with any variety.

      Look for a italian brand of pickled chillies called Lombardi Peppers. We use them in work but not sure on the breed tho sorry=[ Im going to go out on a guess and say they are called Lombardi haha. Hope that helps

            Depends on what type of pickling you want to do.
            Do you want to be using dried chillies or fresh chillies?

              The type of chilli seed to look out for is pepperoncino which is an italien heirloom variety. (I think the Lombardo referred to above is a pepperoncino).

              Try Pepperoncini Pepper Seeds - Italian Heirloom Pepper Seeds - West Coast Seeds

              They are definately the sort that come on kebabs in my locality. To pickle, salt them first overnight and then rinse and drain, then pickle in a half and half water/vingar solution and you'll get pretty close to the kebab shop style.

                thanks for the help will be pickling from fresh next year,last years peach habaneros are still in the jar as nobody will try them after my brother in law "I like em hot" tried one .couldn't happen to a nicer bloke mwhahahaha
