Aubergines in pots

Hi all,

this is my first real year at trying to grow veggies, other than tomaotes.
Most of my garden is concrete (hopefully next year I will change that), so I am limited to pots and grow bags really.

I LOVE aubergines and in the summer eat loads of them, so have got myself some seeds, and one of those plastic cheap greenhouses (next year hoping for a 'real' one). I have just planted 40 'black beauty' seeds in my dining room and have ordered some 'mohican' seeds.

Does anyone have any tips on growing aubergines in pots and grow bags?

Hi Blossom! Welcome to the forum. I grew Black Beauty last year for the first time because my Daughter In Law asked me to as they are expensive to buy and she loves them. However they weren't very successful. I grew them in the greenhouse in pots and the aubergines just didn't seem to grow properly. So this year I am trying a different variety - one of the baby variety - and I am going to pot them up into big pots. I think that maybe the pots that I used were not big enough. Good luck!

Give them a feed every 10 days with tomato fertiliser.

This is a tip for next year....aubergines seem to do better with a long growing season so plant indoors in January to start off.
