Snadger, which garden centre did you go to? I've been to Cowell's and Peter Barrett recently and didn't see any. Did they have garlic too?

      Thanks

I think once you're into September you have to accept the onset of Autumn really. (As you might remember, it's pretty cold in the night by the end of August up 'ere.. )

I live a couple of hundred yard from Cowell's so went there. They are where the autumn planted flower bulbs are and yes they had garlic as well.
I still may go along to Dobbies who sometimes have a better selection and usually reduce their seeds at this time of year.

Agreed. I think I remember two or three days at the beginning of August (only because I was at home on leave), but that's all.

Righty-ho! That's my day sorted, Cowells it is. Thank you.

I'll steer well clear of the seeds though as I have a carrier bag full from Peter Barrett's 50p sale.............. well maybe I'll just have a look; it would be rude not to.

I went to two garden centres yesterday and neither had any onion sets in yet. It'll have to be an online purchase.

Back from a short trip south, to pick up SHMBO and the dog, were I was able to visit two garden centres. One was less garden and more tat, could only find a very small selection of veg seed. When I ask whether they had any garlic and onion sets, I got a puzzled look from staff.

The other GC was Millets Farm, near Abingdon, which has an excellent selection of veg. I picked up onion sets of Electric, Troy, Radar and Senshyu. Also got two garlic, Germidour and Marco
Sometimes you just have to scratch that itch and get dirt under your finger nails.
