Further to this thread - I put 10 Taylor's shallots in, at the same time as 10 Wilkinson's shallots; and the Taylors have shooted and have lots of greenery, and the Wilkinsons ones; nada.

Oops forgot to mention that I cleared a bed of mainly chickweed and grass a few weeks ago and as I was raking up, these banana shallots appeared on the surface. They did not seem to have moved and although there were some little white roots on the bottom they must have only been half a cm long. I put them in the compost. Did anyone else get any growth from them? I remember BB bought some.

Yeah, I looked about a month ago when my other shallots were - well, pushing the netting up - but these hadn't grown at all. Composted. Neighbour's too. Complete waste of everyone's money. If we could tot up all the wasted £1s eh?

I wish I'd kept the packaging Zaz, I'd have complained. In fact, I wish I'd eaten them now.

Up to you BB. At one time I would have said a definite "yes it is", but I must have mellowed because although I complained to Wickes, I didn't take the compost back.
