  • Avalon squash huuuuuge

    Way back when it was Mothers day, I asked for and got some Winter Squash seeds. One variety was Avalon, a butternut squash like plant, which, according to the packet, produced small sweet fruits. Small by butternut/cobnut standards I'm guessing.

    So move on a few months and I now have 8 fruits growing, 7 of which are as per the packet description and then we have this one:



    That's a 30cm ruler and the squash weighs in at 5lb 15oz Think I may try saving some seed from this one if it tastes ok!

        Avalon is an F1, so any seeds won't come true (although you'll probably get something out of them)

          Oh that's true but I may well give it a go anyway and just shove the plants in alongside my other squashes next year (always the optimist )
