  • Poor growth on part of my plot

Courgettes have died off. Beetroots are small and inhibited. Leeks are showing signs of retarded growth and yellowing/rusting of some leaves. All whilst similar plants on other parts of the plot have thrived. Courgettes were fine earlier in the year.

I was wondering what could be causing this. Any ideas would be most useful.

Funny my allotment neighbour was just saying the same thing. His allotment was well mucked two years ago and he had tremendous crops. Last year he didn't apply any muck and he had rubbish crops this year.

More to it than that methinks, but its bound to have had a bearing.

Weather, location,shade,acidity/alkalinity,nutrients,disease,planting times, veg types etc are just a few of the reasons why crops vary in producrivity.

Yes but the courgettes at the from to my plot are still looking healthy and producing their final fruits. The offenders are gone!

The beets were small whilst strong elsewhere.

I was wondering if it is down to infected manure?

Somebody better tell mine then, they're still producing every day - have started hiding them in people's pockets when the visit to get rid

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Did you manure one plot and not the other? Or use manures from different sources for each plot? Again, it's hard to say without more information. As Snadger said, there are a number of things that could cause stunted growth on your plot.

Only got the plot this year. Will add plenty of manure this autumn winter and hope it makes a difference.

                              Thanks for the advices everyone
