Glad that you enjoyed the North East. I have been up here for a few years now and just love it. The gardening is different to Herts though.
Today is just luverley........ been in the garden all day. Had a sit and a doze/sunbathe at lunchtime and my skin is positively red now Now off to a BBQ at my daughter's after she has been on the beach all day. Can't beat it can you?
Come back soon Zazen
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right. Edited: for typo, thakns VC

I was up in northumbria recently too, was absolutley stunning. sunny all weekend, except for when we took a detour off the M1 to get to a supermarket late at night and ended up driving across the pennines i think...horrific hills and kept hitting very thick fog. made the last hour of the journey horrendous considering i'd just had a very relaxed 6 hour drive previous.

I haven't got solar panels, but I'd love to live by one of those windmill things, i can watch them for hours....probably because there's nothing in my head....
You'll have to excuse me, I should have put this in the rant thread!
I've just bought a house with a lovely view of the rolling hills to the horizon (about 7 mile away). Just found out they are going to site windmills across the horizon because its elevated and windy!

Northerners can have solar panels too - my Dad has them, is currently enjoying watching the little meter clock up income for him (it was two folk like my Dad fighting over a penny that invented copper wire ) - and he's in the Cairngorms. People keep telling me they don't work up here - I boil a kettle disproving that !
If the predictions for 2017 are accurate, we will all want as many windmills as possible then - the powers that be are unanimous that there will be brownouts if not blackouts at that point, because we have to retire so many old generating stations.
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.
