I've just spent a couple of fabulous days in Northumberland and Edinburgh. Weather fantastic.

So what's all this nonsense about it being harder to grow veg up here? Warmer here than Cornwall. Are you making things up?

Southerners - you have all been victims of a massive hoax. Don't believe a word of it!
so you stayed on the east side, totally different weather to the west side ,its been raining here since friday pm and has eased off now for a few hours before it starts again, temp outside is 13deg, so we are enjoying the forecast heatwave,we could watch it on the telly all day,had to throw out all the melons as it got too cold consistantly to grow them any longer,we did have sun last wednesday, but thats been it,carrots growing since mid july still have no real roots.

You need all that rain to cool down, it's so hot up there.

However, it bit me on the ar$e as yesterday, whilst we were wandering around Edinburgh, it started raining and didn't stop [well, it did for about 18 seconds until Mr Z said 'has it stopped?'] and we left this morning bound for windermere, which was also raining, so abandoned it for Buxton, whilst was also raining so are now at home where - believe it or not, it is sunny, dry and warm.

And to top is all, our cleaner came on Thursday and so the house is lovely and clean.

Oh, and it's rained here pretty much all day, but that's okay, I was too hot yesterday. My northern genes haven't evolved to cope with it yet

You'll be saying pylons are a thing of beauty next! If they were like the old dutch windmills I would find them quaint but not those flaming monstrosities!!!!GRRRRR

But they aren't monstrosities; I can't see what people don't love about them. They are mesmerising. Not good for birds as they fly straight into them but for hoomans; totally absorbing.

A feat of modern engineering is the wind farm on the road outside Palm Springs, there are literally hundreds of them there ......
