Is it worth putting weed control fabric on beds over winter?

i usually clear a bed of weeds cover with weed fabric and plastic sheeting to keep weeds seed from blowing in and keep weeds from taking hold while the bed is inactive.

Undug areas of my plot are covered with weed membrane or cardboard or anything else I can find as I'm still trying to kill off grass and weeds . The beds that have been dug and haven't got winter veg (or spring cabbage ) in have been sown with green manure ..
