Well I'm not going to tell you straight away !!!! I was struggling with kneeling so invested in a cushion -no that's not it- found it too difficult moving along my scaffold plank to plant or sow as I was always getting up to move the cushion then had a mini brain wave, I bought a pair of gel filled knee pads like my husband's for work, and now I just crawl along the board with no problem. Not the most elegant creature but no more knee pain from hard surfaces.Pity they don't come in pink- manufacturers /garden accessories please note and I'll sample them for you.
What is you best buy?

Well, what a coincidence! Knee Pads!! - I bought a pair of foam type, with velcro straps - almost new, from a car-boot sale - 50p !!!

As you say, not at all elegant, but functional and very comfortable.

I have 2 for the camper van, 1 for carrying my washing up and down stairs, 2 for the greenhouse, 1 for the garden, 2 for the lottie, 1 big and one little for school gardening and a few others dotted around the place for just general work. The first 3 in this list are CLEAN ones, not old dirty ones. Oh, and one for the car washing stuff, under the stairs.

I get them when the are on offer, rather than pay full price.

Although trugs are delightful, I am thinking of getting skater knee pads.....it has to be said.

Since I started doing this lark for a living, I haven't used kneelers hardly at all; I just kneel down straight on the ground. I've told myself so many times that I need kneepads, so I think I'll bite the bullet and get some.

My knee pads are workmens, they are gel filled rather than just protective which makes kneeling so much more comfortable but best of all was no bobbing up and down to move the cushion. My other best buy was a gardeners belt. My trousers never seam to have pockets and this belt has places for everything-mobile,string,ties,secuteers!!, knife,apple or mints etc. Hope your Xmas lists are filling up

After much debate I bought myself a cordless strimmer to do the paths around my plot as I am the only person who seems to bother. There is a push mower up that belongs on site but as the chap behind me has made his raised beds so far forward it is virtually impossible to get the mower through. I'm not a lover of power tools but I wish I'd bought one before as it saved me lots of time and sweat. One battery lasts about 35 minutes so I strim everywhere til the battery runs out. Sad I know.
PS I love trugs too and have bought these as present for (gardening) friends and relations before now. Tricky to wrap!

My other best buy this year was a pair of 1950's ROLCUT No.16 Secateurs. They are very small, just lady-size and are for my wifes' Christmas stocking.
