  • potatoes eaten!!!!

Hi everyone, my potatoes were meant to be for christmas but they look really sorry for them selves, so I dug one up to see what the problem was. The seed potato had gone a weird brown colour and was soft and full of holes. I dug up a few more and they were the same. There were not many potato's on the plants. Just these white long worm things burrowing into them. I dug the rest up and sure enough they were all infected, and if they wernt it was because they had no potato's on them!
Can anyone help me with this problem. I have now dug up all the potatoes and binned them. I have just rotavated the area again and am now clearing away any weeds and other debris. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening to the next veg I put in that same place?

Wireworm aren't long and white though ...?

There was a similar thread on here just recently, and I think they (long and white worms) turned out to be a kind of nematode that had moved in after the initial damage had been done by slugs

          I think
