  • Courgette Rot

This year I had massive issues with rot on the end of my courgette & at the base of the plants I had it on all 5 plants & then on my squash.

Any idea what it could be & will it affect me next year. Was all find previous years.

I'd blame the erratic weather. All my early courgettes were fine but by the time we got to September the rot had set in. You can still use the rest of the courgette if you just cut off the rotten bit.

It's a bit fussy, but a couple of days after flowering I tend to pull the flower off -- it will come off easily if it is ready. This seems to 'seal' the end and prevent the rot you sometimes get when it's damp.

Cool temps will rot them ~ in spring it happens a lot. Mine had a last burst with the little Indian October sunshine, but most of the new fruits had rot and were useless
