Oh bugger. *whacks self with rolled up woman's weekly

I have had the most amazing year with one type of courgette, it's been prolific and I thought it was Trombe D'Albenga.

We harvested the last 6 from 2 plants today and composted them.

The label said 'White Serpent Squash'.

IIRC - they were a bag of seeds from HSL's 'box to throw away' and I think I sowed the lot.

I'm kicking myself. I didn't have time to hand pollinate and we ate them all. They were fantastic - the best I've ever grown.

*runs off to rip whole seed collection apart

I don't think they are on the list; they were a bag of seeds that were donated but never grown out for some reason....I'll go over tomorrow and have a dig in the boxes of seeds under the desk...they really were splendiferous and if I can find them I WILL be saving them for next year.

SO annoyed. *hits self over head again

I cannae remember - I think you had the other one, the one that grows like a swan. This one grew long, straight and white and never got a bell end like some of the others.

The one and only fruit on mine had a bell end but was pale green and smooth skinned . I gave it my mate I'll see if she saved seeds ...
In fact it caused a certain amount of hilarity ......

I'll bet - no this one definitely has no bell end. Straight as a die.

And yup, I have googled - first thing I did.

No. Totally no ridges. Just long dead straight courgettes, very very pale green, almost white.

It split into 3 and then 3 long trailing vines grew, so you could pick 3 courgettes a day off it, every day - even this year when others were pants. Even when one grew to be 2 ft long, no fluffy insides, just firm flesh. Gorgeous.
