I wouldn't bother with a walnut if you want it just for the nuts. Our tree is about 60ft tall and we don't get a look in - the squirrels take every one and plant them everywhere!
Zazen, have you used that nursery, or Edulis, or Agroforestry? And if so, what did you buy?
I'm flirting with berries, yes, but as have little space I want 'delicious' rather than 'edible' - any suggestions, Team Unusual Edibles? And has anyone tried the Autumn Olive?
I haven't yet - I did try and find them on Friday but they were more a farm than an actual nursery and the main thing I wanted [Japanese Wineberry] I actually bought off the gardeners at Ryton yesterday. But I still have a list of things to get and will be using them soon.
I'm ashamed to admit this but I have a Japanese Wineberry. I bought it from Deacons maybe 15 years ago and it is lost in the middle of a very overgrown fruit patch. I know where it is as the stems are quite distinctive but its a long time since I found it at the same time as it was fruiting. Hangs head in shame. I bought a load of unusual fruiting plants at that time and put them on my allotment. Pressure of work and circumstances meant I had to give up the plot so I hastily dug up anything that I could and shoved it in the garden. Some plants were relocated but that whole area is known as the fruit jungle now. The birds love it!!!
